Because the jewelry speaks for itself, the headlines can speak for the store
And when the store speaks through its ads, people chuckle. LeRoy Jewelers ads reflect the sentiments of the customers and the art and heart of store owner, Steph Farber.
Though Pierce Transit refused to run the provocative ad with “breasts” in the headline, a News Tribune business columnist wrote about the refusal, giving LeRoy extra coverage without spending any media dollars. Expecting complaints, JayRay created snipes that scribbled out the word “breasts.” Farber said, “The ‘Tired of Men Staring…’ ad campaign has created more attention for us than we could ever have hoped for. I was amazed by the response once the snipes were installed. Easily 20 callers wanted me to know that ‘someone has defaced your billboards.’ I received a call from an office in Lakewood where the female workers had been debating the ad for a full week. A former businessman admitted to me that he wished he had taken chances like this when he had his chain of stores." Farber says sales increased 20 percent. |
