Rallying support for new museum in bleak economy

The City Council was set to donate the building site for a museum to house the largest privately owned collection of cars in the world—if the nonprofit Harold E. LeMay Museum could generate community support and raise the money to build it.

JayRay helped the cash-poor museum and city staff turn the announcement of the land deal into an enthusiastic regional rally of support attracting hundreds of car buffs who brought more than 140 classic cars to display.

Stories seen on KOMO, KING, KIRO and KCPQ television, and in the Seattle Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, The News Tribune and Business Examiner, boosted attendance from 7,500 to 12,000 at the collection’s annual open house, held just weeks later. Materials featuring the museum logo designed by JayRay helped increase membership by 250 percent.
