INTERNAL STRATEGY BRIDGES CULTURES

The formation of KentuckyOne Health brought together nearly 15,000 employees from three health care organizations and 200 urban and rural sites across the state. The change was unsettling, even overwhelming, for some who felt their rich culture would be lost.


JayRay went to work

  • Facilitated the definition of the organization’s purpose, To bring wellness, healing and hope to all, including the underserved
  • Developed the internal communication strategy and systemwide communication channels, policies and job descriptions
  • Conceived the Purpose Tour, a traveling video recording booth, celebrating employees and helping them connect to KentuckyOne’s purpose
  • Developed executive presentation scripts and materials
  • Introduced benefit changes, an employee recognition program, pay for performance system and referral program


Results

According to responses from a panel of KentuckyOne employees:

  • 80% discussed a culture-related topic with their leader
  • 83% read the all-employee electronic newsletter weekly
  • 72% participated in the employee recognition program in the first nine months
