INSTAGRAM, BRANDING, SCHOOL CALENDAR EARN HONORS FOR JAYRAY

Communication strategy a key element of award-winning projects for Tacoma agency

Creative and strategic services agency JayRay has been recognized by two awards programs for its branding, print and social media projects with three Tacoma clients.

Travel Tacoma + Pierce County earned a Totem Award from the Public Relations Society of America Puget Sound Chapter. The Service Industry Advertising Awards honored Symphony Tacoma (Gold award) and Tacoma Public Schools (Silver award).

“Our clients were enthusiastic partners throughout the strategic and creative processes,” said Kathleen Deakins, JayRay president. “The awards celebrate collaboration and hard work that paid off.”

Totem Award from the PRSA Puget Sound Chapter
As part of the National Park Service’s centennial, Travel Tacoma + Pierce County hosted five out-of-state Instagram influencers, showing them all corners of Pierce County. Their 79 Instagram posts drew 64,000 engagements, and Travel Tacoma’s Instagram followers increased 49 percent. 

Service Industry Advertising Awards Gold award
Led by a dynamic new music director, Tacoma Symphony Orchestra was ready to cast off its decades-old logo, acronym and misperceptions. JayRay leveraged volunteers’ energy and insights in a branding process that resulted in a distinctive logo and messaging and a new name, Symphony Tacoma.

Service Industry Advertising Awards Silver award
The Tacoma Public Schools annual calendar is more than a playbook of events. Strategic messages and photos educate residents about the district’s improved test scores, innovative programs and devoted teachers.
