Informed Members Approve Merger

JayRay Guides Two Spokane Credit Unions Through Successful Merger Campaign

United Health Services Credit Union members vote 89 percent in favor of joining with Horizon Credit Union, supported by a communication campaign led by JayRay.

United Health Services joins Horizon on Nov. 1. The merger will make Horizon an $800 million credit union with 250 employees.

In the months leading up to the vote, UHSCU members received information by mail, on the website and in UHSCU’s three branches. They were invited to town hall meetings to ask questions and learn more about the proposed merger.

JayRay’s campaign strategy was to clearly explain the member benefits of a merger—the convenience of more branches, plus access to the latest technology and more services. And the reassurance of continued helpful service from the UHSCU employees they know and trust. The last phase of the campaign was a simple, consistent reminder to vote “yes.”

Jeff Adams, Horizon Credit Union president/CEO, was pleased with the campaign’s success. “We pride ourselves on placing our members’ needs first, and JayRay helped us explain how the merger would continue that focus.”

JayRay facilitated the campaign with UHSCU and Horizon, developing strategic messages, FAQs, member postcards, website graphics and information, in-branch posters and other materials.

“Members found it easy to say ‘yes’ because they felt informed and confident that the merger was the best step forward for UHSCU,” said Shari Campbell, JayRay co-owner.
