Hember Brings Creativity on a Global Scale

Jay Hember joins JayRay as senior art director with credentials from MultiCare and Russell Investments tempered by Midwest authenticity.

From global corporate identity management to environmental graphics close to home, Hember’s wide-ranging portfolio shows passion for intelligent design and typography. “The English language has 26 letters that are all pieces of art,” he says.

Hember most recently worked with the MultiCare marketing team, creating web and social media campaigns, corporate materials and conceptual development for fundraising. As associate creative director at Russell Investments for 17 years, Hember was involved in creative development for projects that included global corporate identity, U.S. ad campaigns, environmental graphics and conference materials.

“Jay’s work is so engaging that it masks how hard it works,” said Kathleen Deakins, JayRay president. “He reaches clients and their customers by truly understanding what’s important to them.”

A Kansas native, Hember has lived in the Pacific Northwest for 20 years. He said an internship with a Seattle design firm “sealed the deal” for a career in design. Hember earned his bachelor of fine arts and visual communications degree from the University of Kansas. Since then he has been a student and instructor at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle.

Hember is never far from the creative process, spending time volunteering and at home building and repurposing objects. He lives in Northeast Tacoma with his wife and two children.
