JayRay Welcomes Prodigal Daughter Libby Catalinich as She Returns to Tacoma Roots

Wilson High School graduate Libby Gagliardi Catalinich brings her 30 years of strategic communication experience with national brands to JayRay, as she returns to the City of Destiny she loves.

Catalinich, formerly with REI, will advise clients in crisis communication, issue management and corporate communication, drawing on her work with public, private and shareholder-owned organizations.

“Libby is widely recognized for effectively reaching across multiple channels with an integrated, on-strategy message in industries ranging from retail to financial services to education,” said Kathleen Deakins, JayRay president.

Prior to joining JayRay, Catalinich was director of corporate communication at outdoor gear retailer REI, where she was responsible for teams that handled executive communication, media relations, product publicity, employee communication and issue management. One of the highlights of her time at REI was managing the communication surrounding the appointment and confirmation of former REI CEO Sally Jewell to her current role as the Secretary of the Interior in the Obama administration, as well as bringing on new CEO Jerry Stritzke.

Catalinich previously worked at Washington Mutual where she rose to senior vice president of public relations. Before this, she was director of college relations for Bellevue College.

Catalinich earned a bachelor of arts in communications from the University of Washington and is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Tomorrow, a selective nine-month civic leadership program. Catalinich earned her Public Relations Society of America accreditation (APR designation) and is a guest lecturer for the University of Washington and Seattle University communications programs. Catalinich is a member of the PRSA Puget Sound chapter Board of Directors. She has led teams that have won the PRSA Silver Anvil, Presidents’ Choice and Totem awards.
