'The Letter' Delivers Two Video Awards for JayRay, Partners

Just the right mix of hope and emotion earned two notable video awards for Overlake Medical Center and its creative partners JayRay and Hand Crank Films.

The 4-minute video was recently recognized with a silver Telly Award and a silver ADDY® Award, both highly regarded award programs.

A letter from a patient’s son was the focal point of the video. The segment was originally shown last fall to an audience of more than 1,000 at the Overlake Hospital Foundation’s annual Community Partners luncheon. The event raised a record $400,000 to support Overlake’s programs, nearly double the amount raised in 2011.

“We expected a large turnout for our Community Partners luncheon this year, so it was critical that we had a video that would showcase Overlake and be emotionally compelling,” said Molly Stearns, vice president of fund development. “JayRay and Hand Crank developed a fresh idea for a patient story video and then carried it out superbly. We were thrilled with their work.”

The 34th Annual Telly Awards honor outstanding work in local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as film and video productions and groundbreaking web commercials, videos and films.

The ADDY® Awards recognize creative excellence in advertising from all types of media. The ADDYs are sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, the nation’s oldest national advertising trade association.
