News ReleaseSeptember 1, 2009JayRay helps Muckleshoot Bingo get daubers in the door
What’s a dauber? Are you a dauber? These curious questions are the heart of a new radio campaign for Muckleshoot Bingo. Muckleshoot Bingo enlisted JayRay to write and produce radio spots that reach a difficult demographic—a younger crowd that thinks bingo is just for their grandma—without alienating its frequent bingo players. What captures both audiences and gets them coming back to Muckleshoot Bingo? Daubers. Muckleshoot Bingo and JayRay launched a radio campaign July 20 in the Seattle market that features on-the-street interviews that ask people a series of questions about daubers—the marker used to mark squares on a bingo card and the people who use them. The humorous radio spots create curiosity for potential new bingo players while also making current visitors laugh at the naïve remarks of those who aren’t familiar with the word. “Both audiences are important to us,” said Laci McMaster, marketing manager at Muckleshoot Bingo. “Finding something that is common between them seems difficult, but every experienced bingo player and novice finds something they enjoy in the dauber campaign.” “A dauber was natural to us. We just couldn’t get the idea out of our heads,” said Kurt Jacobson, president of JayRay. “We are excited to continue working with Muckleshoot Bingo on future campaigns to get daubers in the door of the bingo hall.” Muckleshoot Bingo hopes to boost summer attendance, draw in a younger crowd and make Muckleshoot Bingo in Auburn the number one choice among bingo players in the area.
