Four JayRay clients receive Communicator Awards

From more than 7,000 entries, four Pierce and Kitsap county organizations have been recognized with Communicator Awards by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. JayRay collaborated on the winning work with four of its clients: LeRoy Jewelers, Tall Ships Tacoma, Port of Tacoma and Kitsap Credit Union.

Leroy Jewelers

JayRay and LeRoy Jewelers were recognized for the billboard advertisements displayed in Tacoma in December. The boards declare, "We take care of the smartest men in town," "Hang the ornaments" and "Earotica" to remind men to choose LeRoy for their holiday gifts.

Port of Tacoma

Port Web

The Port of Tacoma and JayRay were recognized for the advertising campaign that announced the Port’s 90th anniversary with a seal in a birthday hat. The image of the seal grabbed readers and subtly reinforced the Port’s connection to the environment. The ad invited readers to visit a Web site to enter a drawing and seek information about doing business with the Port.

Tall Ships Tacoma

JayRay and Tall Ships Tacoma were recognized for the advertising campaign for the 2008 Tall Ships festival. The campaign positioned Tall Ships as a must-attend event using the tagline, "They’re coming, are you?" Boards featured a car with a ship in the rearview mirror and a cappuccino with foam swirls in the shape of an anchor.

Kitsap Credit Union

Kitsap Credit Union and JayRay were recognized for the "Working Together for a Healthy Tomorrow" community awareness campaign. Kitsap Credit Union needed a "yes" vote from members to convert from a federal to a Washington state charter so the credit union could add branches closer to where members live and work. To help raise awareness about the important role it played in the community Kitsap Credit Union conducted interviews with members and employees of the credit union to find out what a "healthy tomorrow" meant for them. It partnered with the Kitsap Sun newspaper to nominate and honor people in the community who demonstrated the healthy tomorrow theme. When Kitsap Credit Union members understood the importance of the credit union in their community, they voted by a two-and-a-half to one margin to change to the less restrictive state charter.
