News Release

June 10, 2009
JayRay reduces 16-syllable brand to 4 syllables

Tacoma Pierce County Employee and Training Consortium is rolling out its new brand name – WorkForce Central.

The new name reflects the Tacoma and Pierce County government-supported program’s shift in focus from serving workers to serving businesses and other organizations that need more appropriately trained workers and business training information.

WorkForce Central receives donations from the private sector to supplement government funding and improve programming to serve the local workforce and economy.

The name “WorkForce” reflects the basic category and “Central” refers to the single source an employer can go to for help.

Many people, including partners (government, nonprofit and private sector), struggled to remember the name and welcome the more descriptive name of WorkForce Central. JayRay, a communications consultancy facilitated the process that led to the new name and logo.
