Toilet clogged commercial and “same sacks marriage” win honors for JayRay

JayRay’s advertising work on behalf of clients FloHawks plumbing and septic and LeRoy Jewelers earned honors from the 2008 Summit Creative Awards.

JayRay and FloHawks earned a silver Summit award win for a television commercial that opens in a dark bedroom. It’s 2:19 a.m. As the camera heads into the bathroom, the audience hears some uncomfortable noises. The door opens to a man with a plunger who yells, “Honey, we better call FloHawks!”

LeRoy Jewelers and JayRay received a bronze Summit award for a billboard. Over the headline, “same sacks marriage,” was a classy shopping bag with a LeRoy Jewelers and an Art Stop logo. Both stores share the same retail space and are separately owned by a husband and wife team. The billboard was posted in a high-visibility, high-traffic location 500 feet from the store. A photo and story about the billboard were featured in The News Tribune by columnist Dan Voelpel.

“These awards demonstrate how clients can be successful when they are willing to step out of the norm and use their communication campaigns to push the envelope,” says Kurt Jacobson, JayRay president.

Launched in 1994, the Summit Creative Awards recognizes worldwide the work of advertising, public relations, interactive, video production and graphic design companies with annual billings under $25 million. Winners are selected in categories that include print, broadcast, emerging media, online advertising, marketing materials, direct mail and industry self-promotion.
