Magical media kit and an appeal to “end the heartache” win honors for JayRay

JayRay’s public relations work on behalf of clients Experience Music Project and the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County earned honors in the 2007 Summit Creative Awards.

In the media/press kit category, JayRay and Experience Music Project earned a bronze-level win for the kit sent to news reporters that introduced the exhibition “Disney: The Music Behind the Magic.” Old record album covers, dusted off and emblazoned with Mickey Mouse’s famous silhouette, held fact sheets and press releases about the show that runs through Sept. 9 at EMP before traveling to other venues.

In the community relations program category, JayRay and the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County earned a silver-level win for “End the Heartache.” The media relations and advertising campaign sought to build community support for the organization’s intensified efforts to solve the problem of severe pet overpopulation. Shocking billboards announcing “2,453 killed,” combined with a plea to “End the Heartache,” saved scores of pets from being euthanized last year in Pierce County.

“These awards demonstrate the successes that goal-oriented clients can achieve when they are willing to be dramatic with their communications,” said Kurt Jacobson, JayRay president.

Launched in 1994, the Summit Creative Awards recognize worldwide the work of advertising, public relations, interactive, video production and graphic design companies with annual billings under $25 million. Winners are selected in categories that include print, broadcast, emerging media, online advertising, marketing materials, direct mail and industry self-promotion.
