JayRay ads attract new business for Copesan
Restaurant industry-targeted ads ask “Flies with that?”
JayRay-designed ads placed in a restaurant industry publication startled readers and quickly attracted a new client for Copesan, a national pest management network.
Copesan, an alliance of regional pest management companies, together with affiliate Sprague Pest Solutions, came to JayRay seeking a way to effectively market its pest management program to executives of national restaurant chains.
To JayRay, it was only natural to combine food and flies to create a startling image: A close-up of a large fly sitting prominently on one of the french fries a young woman is about to place in her mouth. Accompanying the image are the words “Flies with that?”
The image was incorporated into direct mail and internal communications. At a company sales meeting, the image was on display and emblazoned on employee T-shirts.
“This campaign energized the sales force and helped Copesan sign a national account in the first few weeks after it was implemented,” said Jerry McLaughlin, JayRay executive vice president. “The sales process typically takes a few months.”
McLaughlin attributed the campaign’s success not only to JayRay’s creative take on the problem, but to Copesan’s willingness to embrace a dramatic concept.
“The results exceeded our client’s expectations,” McLaughlin said.
